Signed "Boucher" lower right edge. Housed under glass in an ebonized wooden frame with inset oval sight and gilt sight edge. Sight (oval): 3" H x 3 3/4" W. Framed: 5 3/4" H x 6 3/4" W. 2nd item: Portrait of a woman depicted wearing a blue and yellow dress with floral bonnet. Signed "Paulin" to lower right edge. Housed under glass in a circular gilt brass frame with foliate pediment. Sight: 2 3/4" dia. Framed (oval): 5 1/8" H x 4" W. 3rd item: Portrait of a young woman, purported to be Marie Caroline Bonaparte Murat, Queen of Naples, depicted wearing a pink dress, red shawl, and floral bonnet. Illegibly signed right edge. Housed under glass in a geometrically patterned gilt brass frame with green felt liner and gilt sight edge. Sight: 3 3/8" H x 2 1/2" W. Framed: 5 3/8" H x 4 3/4" W. 4th item: Portrait of a young woman depicted wearing a blue, pinstriped jacket; white dress with cravat; and white bonnet draw together with ribbon. Housed under glass in a simple gilt brass oval frame. Sight (oval): 2 1/2" H x 1 3/4" W. Framed (oval): 4 1/8" H x 2 3/4" W. 5th item: Portrait of a young woman depicted wearing a white dress with embroidered collar and a white hat with feather accent holding a bouquet of flowers with a vague cloud-filled sky in the background. Housed under glass in a gilt metal oval frame with ribbon swag pediment and accents. Sight (oval): 3 3/4" H x 3" W. Framed (oval): 5 1/4" H x 3 5/8" W. 6th item: Portrait of a young woman depicted wearing a revealing gold and blue toga with a red shawl holding a baby goat or kid. Housed in an oval gilt brass frame with foliate and twisted edge, fabric liner, and bow pediment. 3 1/8" H x 2 1/2" W. Framed: 4 3/4" H x 4" W. All items 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Painting has shifted slightly in frame. Frame with scattered surface scratches. 2nd item: Painting is loose within frame. 3rd item: Discoloration/water spots to lower left quadrant; minor area of loss to upper right corner. Green velvet liner fraying slightly. Tape remains, en verso. 5th item: Minor scattered abrasion/scratches. Painting has shifted slightly in frame. Glass with chip/flaw to left edge measuring 3/8" x 3/8". Frame with scattered oxidation. 6th item: Minute surface wear to upper edge and minute area of exfoliation to left of subject. Frame with discoloration and minor losses to fabric liner.
