1/6 plate daguerreotype of a pre-Civil War staff officer in uniform holding a sword, 2nd Lieutenant of the 1st Artillery of the Pennsylvania Militia. The officer is seated beside a Model 1839 forage cap with plume. Gold highlighted epaulletes and cap emblem. Gilt frame lower margin stamped, "WM Stroud Norristown". Interior blue felt cover with an embossed eagle. Note: Photographer William Stroud opened a photography studio in Norristown, PA in the 1850s. Case dimensions 3" x 3 1/2". Circa 1850. Condition: Overall very good condition with image in excellent condition, case hinge reinforced with tape.
