Frank Stick (American 1884-1966) oil on canvas of hunting dog in springtime landscape. Titled on canvas lower center, "Champion JoJo." Signed and dated lower right. Original giltwood frame. Sight: 28" H x 29-1/2" W. Frame: 33-1/2" H x 35-3/4" H. Brass plate: "Champion Jersey JoJo, Manitoba 1920." Note: Frank Leonard Stick is best known for his outdoor themed paintings, especially those relating to hunting and fishing. He studied under Howard Pyle in Wilmington, DE and alongside N.C.Wyeth and Frank E. Schoonover. His illustrations have appeared in "Sports Afield", "Field and Stream", "Collier's", "The Saturday Evening Post", and other magazines. Condition: Overall very good condition. Slight slack in canvas. One and half inch clean tear in canvas located in center above dog's back. Blacklighting does not indicate any repair or restoration.
