Manner of Eugene Louis Boudin, oil on board plein-air marine painting. Depicts a beach scene, possibly at Trouville, with several beach goers strolling or seated along the shore under a cloudy sky with a pier and ships visible in the background. Signed "E. Boudin" lower left. Partial red wax seal on back of wood board. Housed in a decorative carved gilt wood frame. Sight – 9 1/8" H x 13 3/8" W. Board approximately 10" x 15". Framed – 17 1/2" H x 21 3/4" W. Provenance: Formerly of Maple Grove Estate, Knoxville, TN when a private residence, and published in Southern Accents magazine, May-June, 1985. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Two horizontal bulges or blisters due to wood grain, largest 2", center right of painting. 1" area of paint loss, center left of board. 1" old repair to top left decoration of rabbet edge. Areas of loss to frame.
