Two (2) Peter Paone (American/Pennsylvania, b. 1936) surrealist paintings. 1st item: Exhibited oil on canvas painting titled "Halloween" depicting three figures in costume; a ghost, mouse, and leopard climbing into a car; with multi-colored eyeball balloons floating above the ground. Signed "Paone 11-'70 N.Y.", top right corner. Label indicating that the work was exhibited in a State Services Traveling Exhibition titled "A Fantastical Eye: The Enigmatic Art of Peter Paone.", en verso. Housed in a contemporary aluminum frame. Sight: 29 1/2" H x 35 1/2" W. Framed: 31" H x 36 3/4" W. 2nd item: Acrylic on canvas painting titled "Strawberry Farm" depicting a lit match hovering over a miniature house in a landscape with three strawberries in the foreground against a dark green background. Signed and dated with location "Paone 8 70 NY" top left. Additionally signed, dated, and titled with Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock, AR paper label and accession tag, en verso. Unframed, secured to a stretcher with white archival tape to perimeter. 10 1/4" H x 8" W.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with some light craquelure and two abrasions in the lower portion of the work, not affecting the subject matter, largest approximately 1". 2nd item: Overall good condition with minute areas of paint loss, lower right.
