American School oil on canvas painting depicting the three quarter view portrait of a woman wearing a black hat and a black coat with a black and white fur collar, against a reddish-brown background. Illegibly signed and dated "H. Saserer(?) -25" lower right. George H. Muth and Company, Washington, DC gilt metal placard with two partially illegible black ink stamps, en verso of stretcher. Housed in a giltwood frame with carved foliate corner elements. Sight: 29" H x 23" W. Framed: 35" H x 29 1/4" W.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with craquelure, stretcher mark across top of canvas. Slight buckling, lower center of canvas. 5 1/4" x 4 1/4" patch, center left, and 1 3/4" area of repair, lower left, visible en verso with corresponding inpainting. Frame in overall good condition with natural age shrinkage.
