1st item: Large Middle Tennessee pottery jar with buff stoneware body and lug handles. Incised "6" denoting gallon capacity and incised line extending around the circumference of the shoulder. Attributed to the Lafever pottery of Middle Tennessee. For similar jars with similar gallon capacity script refer to page 80, figure 15 of "A Survey of Historic Pottery Making In Tennessee 1979", Division of Archaeology, Tennessee Department of Conservation. 17 1/8" H. 2nd item: Large Middle Tennessee stoneware jar with lug handles and two bands of incised lines extending around the circumference of the shoulder. 20 1/8" H. Both pieces Late19th/Early 20th century. Condition: 1st item: Chip to one handle. 2nd item: Chip to inner rim and chip to one handle. Hairline extending from base into body.
