Mizue Sawano (Japanese, b. 1941) oil on linen, brightly colored abstract floral painting, signed and titled en verso "Ethereal Glow." 35-1/2" x 25-1/2" sight, 37" x 27" framed. Provenance: The estate of Margaret Wemyss Connor, Nashville, Tennessee, ex-Gerald Peters Gallery, New York City. Biography: Born in Japan, Mizue Suwano came to the United States in the late 1960s and was awarded a Merit Scholarship by the Art Students League. She is known for her large scale depictions of water lilies and cherry blossoms in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and began designing the event posters for the Garden's annual Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival) in 1992. She also won the gold prize at the first Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art. Condition: Excellent condition.
