Ron Williams (Tennessee, 1947-2016) oil on canvas mountain landscape painting depicting a rock-lined stream cutting through a dense forest in the foreground, with the Great Smoky Mountains visible in the background beneath an atmospheric sky. Signed "Ron Williams" lower right. Unframed: 31 1/8" H x 41 1/8" W. Biography: A native of Knoxville, TN and Navy veteran, Ron Williams began painting in his early adulthood and painted for over 40 years. He is best known for his numerous Hudson River School stylized depictions of Southern Highland and Appalachian landscapes, primarily depicting East Tennessee and Western North Carolina.
CONDITION: Light surface scratches: two horizontal in sky top right quadrant, 4 1/2" L and 8" L, one vertical in lower right quadrant in trees 7" L, one horizontal near middle left edge in trees 5 1/2" L. Expected abrasions to margin edge of canvas from previous framing.
