Pair of Meissen polychrome and parcel gilt standing figures, based on designs by Joachim Kandler and Johann Schonheit. Depicting a male gardener holding a basket of flowers standing in front of a garden plinth and a lady holding a basket of flowers standing in front of a tree stump, both attired in elegant formal clothing. Both with Meissen blue crossed swords mark and “W” blind stamp to the underside. Both measure 17 in. H x approx. 8 in. W. German, 19th century.
CONDITION:
Both with figures with scattered fleabites and minor losses to the foliate decoration on each base, to the flower in the female’s hair, and to the flowers on the male’s coat. Hairline to base center (but does not extend to base edges) on the gardener figure, likely in the making.
