Bronze sculpture after John Talbott Donoghue (1853 – 1903) titled “The Young Sophocles Leading the Chorus of Victory after the Battle of Salamis”. Signed on base “J. Donoghue” with inscriptions on the sides of the base in Greek reading Sophocles and Salamis. Back of base marked “Modern Art Foundry, NY”. 44 1/2″ H x 26″ W x 14″ D. 20th century. Condition: Extensive verdigris patination from outdoor exposure. Some scratches on back of mounting.
