Classical period triple decker clock, retains interior label reading "Patent Brass 8 day clock, Birge Case & Co., Bristol, Connecticut". Carved eagle crest over a painted and gilded wood face with steel hands, flanked by side columns. Eglomise panel decorated with a bust of George Washington over a mirrored door with ivory escutcheon. Supported on four ball feet. 37 1/2" h x 17.5"W x 5 3/4"D. American, circa 1830. Provenance: Estate of A. Welling LaGrone Jr., Nashville, Tenn. Condition: Right foot and rear foot lose, some loss of veneer, some inpainting to reverse painting on glass panel of Washington, with later weights, works not tested.
