Watercolor by Ed Holland (Daniel Edward Holland /1918¨ß2009), framed watercolor of Carnton Plantation framed. Overall good condition, signed lower right. Sight – 18 3/4" H x 22 1/2" W. Framed – 26 1/2" H x 30 1/2" W. 20th century. Biography: Holland was born in Kentucky in 1918. After attending David Lipscomb College and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, he worked briefly for the Nashville Banner (directorial cartoonist, 1939¨ß1941) before serving in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II (1941¨ß1945). After leaving the military, Holland took a position with the Chicago Tribune, where he remained for the rest of his career and became chief editorial cartoonist at the Tribune in 1972 before retiring in 1975.
