Two (2) acrylic on board Surrealist clown paintings, attributed to Carlo Canevari (Italy, 1922 – 1996). 1st item: Painting depicting a clown in green trousers, an indigo shirt, and green bowler hat with a red umbrella with a blue gradient sky in the background. 2nd item: Painting depicting a musician or jester in yellow trousers, a red shirt and socks, a green belt, and a yellow cone-shaped hat playing a horn with a blue gradient sky in the background. Both signed, "Pucci," in red at the bottom (Canevari signed some of his work with this pseudonym). Both housed in black and giltwood frame with a water leaf carved design and woven fabric mat. Sights ranging in size from 9" H x 3 1/8" W to 9 2/8" H x 4 3/4" W. Frames ranging from 13 5/8" H x 8 1/4" W to 13 3/4" H x 9 1/2" W. Italian, 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of a Tennessee institution.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with very minor fraying on the mat. Not examined outside of frame.
