European School impressionistic oil on canvas still life painting depicting a bowl of red and white tulips and potted plants, a platter of oranges, and a candlestick on a table, with sunlight streaming in from a window to the left. Monogrammed "GT" lower left. Partial old paper label with date reading "1883" with illegible pencil inscriptions, en verso of frame. Housed in a giltwood frame with carved foliate elements. Sight: 34" H x 39" W. Framed: 45" H x 50" W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Provenance: the estate of Dr. Thomas Bechtel, Memphis, TN.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with buckling, top right of canvas. 1/2" partial puncture to canvas, top center. 1 1/2" x 7" patch, visible lower left en verso. 1/8" x 6 1/2" gap between canvas and frame, top left. Frame with areas of loss, largest 1", to wood, areas of loss to gilt, largest 6 1/4", natural age shrinkage.
