Manner of Mary Elizabeth Price (Pennsylvania/West Virginia, 1877-1965) oil on canvas still life painting depicting a green pottery jug filled with pink, purple, and white flowers, situated in an interior setting against a window with a landscape visible in the background. Unsigned. Artfull Eye, Lambertville, NJ label en verso. Gilt metal placard reading "M. Elizabeth Price" affixed to center of frame. Housed in a metallic bronze painted wooden frame. Sight: 11 3/4" H x 16 3/8" W. Framed: 17 1/4" H x 22" W.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Harvey and Leslie Ann Phillips, Vonore, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Light craquelure. UV light inspection reveals areas of inpainting across top and along right edge of canvas with scattered areas to flowers and jug, largest area 1/4" x 14 1/2". Scattered paint flakes/areas of loss, largest 1/8" x 1/4", to flowers at center of canvas. Canvas has been lined and appears to have been cut down.
