H. M. Gabriel (France, 20th Century) oil on canvas painting depicting women preparing to sell flowers by the sea under an early morning sky. A rowboat is docked beside them and additional vessels float in the background. Signed "H. M. Gabriel" lower left. Old typed label with erroneous attribution en verso on stretcher. Housed in an ornate Rococo-style giltwood frame. Sight: 26 1/8" H x 21" W. Framed: 36" H x 30 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Craquelure in sky area, areas of patch restoration in lower margin (see photos of verso for reference) with corresponding areas inpainting, largest area approximately 4" L. Scattered inpainting in center sky area.
