Early Tonita Roybal (Tonita Martinez Roybal, 1892 – 1945) San Ildefonso black on red design jar, tapered shoulder with painted geometric triangular and wing designs, ovoid tapered base. Incised signature underside, "Tonita". 9" diameter, 5" height. Early 20th century. Provenance: Descendants of the estate of Madge Hardin Walters, early 20th century collector and dealer of Native American and author of Early Days and Indian Ways, Westernlore Press, 1956. Condition: Overall excellent condition, inside walls with graphite markings, outside wall with very minor abrasions, rim edge has one small hairline approximately 1/16" to 1/8" size, possible firing flaw (difficult to see without magnification)
