Two (2) American School oil paintings. 1st item: Oil on panel landscape painting depicting a brown cow at the bank of a small pond, foreground, trees in a field, middle ground, a farm house below a cloudy blue sky, background. Unsigned. Housed in a gilt wood frame with molded running pattern. Sight – 10 3/4" H x 20 3/4" W. Framed – 15" H x 24 3/4" W. 2nd item: Oil on canvasboard painting depicting a farm house with three figures sitting before the main house on a picket fence. Unsigned. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight – 6 1/8" H x 8 7/8" W Framed – 7 1/8" H x 9 7/8" W. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: The Estate of Ellen Johnson, Crossville, TN. CONDITION: 1st item: Overall craquelure with board bowed down towards center. 1 1/4" X 1/8" area of paint loss, lower left. 2nd item: Surface grime with areas of abrasion right side of board. Areas of loss to frame.
