Manner of Charles-Nicolas Cochin (French, 1715-1790) portrait of a gentleman, sepia toned chalk drawing with white highlights on heavy paper, depicting a seated gentleman in tricorn hat, long ponytail and long coat strewn behind and beneath him on the chair. Annotated in block print, lower center, "C. N. Cochin, 1715-1719". En verso, frame reads " V-39-261". Sight – 10 3/16" H x 8 1/2" W. Framed – 18 3/4" H x 14 1/4" W. 18th century. Condition: Overall fair condition with general toning and scattered foxing. Pinhole on the right shoulder and a small missing fragment at the extreme lower left corner. Tape en verso, upper left and right.
