Confederate Arkansas Calvary Toothpick Side Knife in leather and pigskin scabbard. Walnut handle banded by lapped and soldered copper ferrules, blade with flat back and a double-edged raised center on the front side, iron "S" shaped cross guard. Scabbard with inscription reading "Parker C. Reed" and "R 43rd" with additional illegible markings indicating possible ownership and regiment number. Includes retail listing from Shannon Pritchard, Old South Military Antiques and additional photographs. Blade length – 14 1/8". Overall length – 19". Scabbard length – 20 1/2". Provenance: Purchased from Shannon Pritchard, Old South Military Antiques. Estate of Jim Maconkey, Landrum, SC CONDITION: Overall good condition with wear to be expected from age and manner of use. The back of the seamed leather body scabbard is solid throughout, tin finial tip is not present.
