Two (2) 19th century Asian Inlaid Jewelry or Keepsake Chests. 1st item: Japanese rosewood and other mixed woods jewelry or keepsake box with painted lacquer decoration to the front door panels and inlaid decoration to all inner and outer doors and drawers. Brass hinges and pulls. 7" H x 8" W x 4" D. 19th century. 2nd item: Korean lacquered and inlaid mother-of-pearl keepsake or jewelry chest, comprised of two 1/2 drawers over one long drawer. Animal and foliate landscape decoration through out with brass hardware. 19th century. 7 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W x 11 3/8" D. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. CONDITION: 1st item: Overall general wear and losses to finish. Front door latch absent, doors do not close. 2nd item: Overall general wear and scattered losses to lacquer and inlay.
