Landscape painting depicting a pond with figure in a boat at right foreground and another figure at water's edge on left. Handwritten history en verso reads: "Painted by Alma Ewing in 1912. Miss Ewing was the sister in law of Mr. George W. [Winchester] Wynne of Castalian Springs [1887-1973]. This painting was purchased by Lucy Newman at the Wynnewood sale on Nov. 3, 1973." (Note: Wynnewood, built 1828, is the largest existing log home in Tennessee, and is a National Historic Landmark). Oil on canvas, laid down on board. Some surface grime and inclusions. Giltwood and composition frame with some possible repainting. Unsigned. Sight: 19" W x 29", Framed: 22-1/2" W x 32-1/2" H.
