German Mettlach ceramic stein designed by H. Schlitt titled "Gambrinus Rex". Etched polychrome enamel decoration depicting a court scene with a king on his throne and attendants. Inlaid lid, bands to the body and base with figural molded thumbpiece. Signed on the scene "H. Schlitt". Mettlach figural mark impressed on the base together with #2107. 15" H x 6" W. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: Private Knoxville, TN collection. CONDITION: Very good condition.
