Grouping of a pair of gilt wood sconces and cherub carving. 1st grouping: Possibly Italian gilt wood sconces with egg and dart molding at top leading to tapered body decorated with acanthus leaves and scroll work. Bracket on back of sconce. 13 1/2" H x 7 1/4" W. Early 20th century. 2nd item: Wood carving of two cherubs with heads in center and outspread wings in front and back. Bracket on base of carving. 7 1/2" H x 12 1/4" W x 4 1/2" D. 19th century. Provenance: Estate of Bill Zarnon, Gatlinburg, Tenn. Condition: 1st grouping: Areas of gilt loss on tops and on one sconce at upper right side, largest loss approx. 1 1/2" L. 2nd item: Split in wood at lower third of left cherub's face. CONDITION: 1st grouping: Areas of gilt loss on tops and on one sconce at upper right side, largest loss approx. 1 1/2" L. 2nd item: Split in wood at lower third of left cherub's face.
