Chinese red lacquer center table, comprised of a round removable top with scalloped apron or frieze, resting on a turned baluster standard, stepped octagonal base, and carved bracket feet. The top with painted polychrome decoration including a stylized floral and fret decorated center flanked by five vignettes scenes depicting figures at court with shaped floral vignettes to the perimeter. The standard and base with polychrome scrolling vine and foliate decoration. 31" H X 34 3/4" dia. Late 19th/early 20th century.
CONDITION: Top with crack or wood fissure to one edge. Scattered exfoliation and losses to paint and lacquer decoration.
