Chinese or Japanese gilt bronze censer or incense burner with circular rim having intaglio fret design, the body decorated with birds and iris flowers in relief and elephant head handles, raised on three feet. Accompanied by a lid with dome top having pierced floral decoration, and a foo dog finial. Seal mark surrounded by floral cartouche underside of base. 13 3/8" H x 8 1/2" W x 7 1/8" D. 20th century.
CONDITION: Base in overall good condition with a small shallow dent to the bottom rim of the body and minute holes in bronze in spots, largest 1/4" H x 3/4" W. Lid in overall good condition with wear and oxidation, and slight distortion to the rim with a small hole in bronze by the base of the foo dog's tail. Lid may not be original to the base.
