Diminutive French Empire secretaire abattant or bureau in the Empire style with figured mahogany veneers. Marble top with white and grey veining, heavy ogee molding with a fitted drawer, fall front writing board over two doors, bracket feet. Fall front opens to reveal an upper open well flanked by two shaped columns over a bank of multiple dovetailed drawers. Lower two doors open to reveal three dovetailed linen drawers. Retains original keys. 56 1/2"H x 38"W x 17". Second half of the 19th century. Provenance: Estate of Bill Zarnon, Gatlinburg, Tenn. Condition: Overall very good condition with marble top having repair where broken in two pieces, minor veneer repair and shrinkage, rear right foot with later blocking.
