Charles Edmond Monroe, Jr. (Alabama, 1918-?) gouache on paper illustration of a Hillbilly playing a guitar under a tree while watching a couple dance in a field. Signed lower left "C. E. Monroe Jr. 47." Matted and framed in contemporary pine frame. Sight: 15 3/4" H x 26 3/4" W. Framed: 26 5/8" H x 37 1/2" W. Charles Edmond Monroe was a noted illustrator who trained at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute. He illustrated 7 dust jackets for G&D Tarzan and covers of Field and Stream Magazine. Condition: Overall excellent condition.
