Agent Marked Claudius Redon New Orleans European Side by Side Percussion Shotgun, 16 gauge. Top of barrels with agent mark "C. Redon New Orleans" in script. European walnut stocks with tusked boar carving to bottom of butt, iron mounted, plain side locks, period replacement ramrod, leather strap. Barrels length – 33". Overall length – 49". Provenance: Estate of Jim Maconkey, Landrum, SC. Note: See "Confederate & Southern Agent Marked Shotguns" by Pritchard, Jr., et al., 2017, page 350, for an image of a Confederate Calvary soldier with a very similar shotgun. CONDITION: Action is sticky, especially on right side. Overall dark patina, light pepper pitting and small dents on barrels. Ramrod appears to be of period replacement, patina matches with thumbs.
