Rare reverse glass mezzotint, titled King George III (1738-1820, Reigned 1760-1820) on his Favourite Charger Adonis, after the painting by James Ward. Housed in a curly maple frame with gilded ribbon molded rabbet edge. Sight – 28 1/4" H x 20 1/2" W. Framed – 34 1/2" H x 27" W. An unusual example of a print, transferred to from an engraved printing plate onto a glass surface and colored or tinted by hand. 2nd quarter 19th century. Provenance: Private Middle Tennessee collection. CONDITION: Some overall darkening to glass, overall good condition.
