Chippendale period mahogany tilt top tea table, plain circular top with dovetailed box cage and tapered urn form standard, the three cabriole legs having distinctive knees with period acanthus carving at top and underside, snake feet. Legs dovetailed into base standard. Oak secondary wood. 29" H x 33 1/2" dia. Late 18th century. Possibly Coastal Virginia/Carolina or English. Provenance: Estate of Mrs. Mary Ann Bowers Thomas, Athens, Alabama. Condition: 27" separation to top, minor signs of wear, generally very good condition.
