Franz Von Defregger (Germany, Austria, 1835-1921), Oil on panel of a standing boy, likely the artist's son Robert Defregger, dressed jacket and hat with a younger sibling in the background, titled: "The Master's children", signed and dated lower left: "Defregger / mar. / 1879". Partially torn gum label verso printed: "2313 / F. Defregger / Die Kinder Des Meisters". Additionally an Illegibly stamped inscription en verso and partial circular stamp below. Board size: 5 3/4" H x 3 3/8" W. Framed: 13 3/8" H x 11 1/8" W. Note: This painting was reproduced as a wood engraving in the late 19th century by L. Kuhn, likely Ludwig Kuhn. Provenance: Private Madison, Wisconsin collection. By oral history, this painting was originally purchased in Vienna, Austria by the owner's great-grandparents, Maximillian Michael Wahlberg (1848-1919) and Hildegard Wahlberg (1862-1926). It descended to the owner's mother, Rosemarie Wahlberg Piper, who was born in Vienna, Austria in 1916 and immigrated to the United States in 1938.

CONDITION: Overall good condition. Blacklight: Some scattered touchups to the upper left quadrant. Visual: Scattered frame abrasion throughout. Grime throughout. Frame in good condition with some cracks and losses. Commensurate with age and use.
