Southern desk and bookcase, 2 piece construction, cherry and walnut with poplar wood, attributed to Alabama, pediment style cornice over two glazed doors, each divided into four panes of glass, over a slant front desk section with fitted interior including cubbyholes and two small drawers. Two long dovetailed drawers with wood knobs, and four slightly tapering turned legs with ring turnings at top. 78" H x 41 3/4" W x 18 1/4" D. Provenance: estate of James R. (and Mary B.) Packard, Huntsville, Alabama. Condition: Top drawer lock removed, losses to original baize desk covering, some shrinkage cracks to side of base, one pane of glass cracked. Later finish.
