1st item: Chinese 18th century watercolor on silk botanical or "fan" painting depicting a bee flying above two white flowers, with Asian characters in black and a red seal in the upper left corner. Housed under glass with a light blue and gilt speckled mount in a giltwood frame. Sight: Approximately 8 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W. Frame: 16 7/8" H x 18 1/4" W. Purchased from John Sparks Chinese Works of Art, London. A copy of the firm's business card with description of the painting is available to the winning bidder. 2nd item: Chinese rectangular embroidered silk panel, the center depicting flowers with butterfly on a blue ground within two patterned borders. 13" H x 17 1/4" W. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Some discoloration of silk with minor portions of fraying, largest measuring 5/8" H x 1/8" W. 2nd item: Overall shattering to blue silk background and overall fading to fabric. Remnants of old white adhesive/paper along one back margin.
