Pair (2) Asian, probably Chinese, ancestral gouache and watercolor on silk portraits of a man and woman, each dressed in elaborately patterned white robes and ceremonial headdresses seated upon wooden thrones covered in light blue, patterned fabric. Both are bordered with cream-colored silk. Housed under glass in matching wooden frames with fruit, scalloped, and geometric decorations to pediment and lower edge. Images ranging from 35 5/8" H x 21 7/8" W to 36" H x 21 7/8" W. Sights: 38 1/2" H x 23 3/4" W and 38 5/8" H x 23 3/8" W. Frames: 45 1/2" H x 27" W and 45 3/4" H x 26" W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
CONDITION: Both items with overall creasing to fabric, scattered errant particles beneath glass, and discoloration of silk at lower edge, largest measuring 1 3/8" H x 12 1/8" W.
