Italian School, oil on panel view of the city of Florence, titled at lower edge Firenze Nel 1780, depicting figures and a carriage moving across the Santa Trinita bridge over the Arno River, with the Ponte Vecchio bridge visible in the background. Unsigned, unframed. 9 1/2" x 13 3/4". Provenance: A Nashville, TN, estate, acquired while living in Italy in the mid 20th century. CONDITION: Some insect holes to panel. 4" shrinkage crack to panel on right upper side with accompanying paint loss, paint wear/loss around edges; 1/2" flake to upper right in sky and 1/2" flake to lower center in water, scattered smaller abrasions, scattered craquelure particularly to sky area. Black lighting showed no inpainting or alterations.
