Southern single door corner cupboard, yellow pine, single piece construction. Molded cornice over a single, double-paneled door, the lower section with shorter paneled door, all having H shaped hinges, the base with molded feet. The majority of backboards secured with rose head nails. 83 1/2" H x 28" W x 28"D. Likely Coastal Virginia or Carolina, early 19th century. Provenance: Collection of James and Marlin Phythyon (Sanders), Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Older refinish. The cupboard was likely an 18th century architectural "built in" with cornice, feet molding, and return moldings added in the latter 19th century. Later H hinges, some staining to interior shelves.
