Italian School, 18th century or earlier, tempera on panel portrait of a lady in Renaissance dress, holding a book. Unsigned. Red wax seal lower left corner. Later giltwood frame with red wash. 8 1/2" x 6" sight, 12" x 10" framed. Provenance: A Nashville, TN, estate, acquired while living in Italy in the mid 20th century. CONDITION: Full shrinkage crack to panel affecting image with accompanying paint loss, up to 3/4"wide. Two 3/4" flakes to fingers in lower right corner. Scattered smaller flakes and cracks, insect damage to back of panel; shallow losses to frame, up to 1/2".
