Six (6) Late-19th Century/ Early 20th century Japanese woodblock prints. 1st item: After Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806) print titled "Picture of the Middle Class" from the series "Young Women of Three Ranks According to their Fashion" originally published in 1794, depicting two women in an interior scene on laid paper. 2nd item: After Keisai Eisen (1790- 1848) titled, "Teahouse" from the series "Contest of Modern Beauties" originally published circa 1830, depicting a woman holding a pamphlet, on laid paper. 3rd. item: Print depicting a Geisha holding a book, possibly after Kitagawa Utamaro, on laid paper. 4th item: After Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900) titled "Futagawa" from the series "Scenes of Famous Places along the Tokaido Road" originally published in 1863, depicting a landscape with figures and architecture along the Tokaido road, on laid paper. Backing under mat is signed "Kunichika" in pencil. 5th item: After Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865) print titled "The Mountain" from the series "Famous Places on the Tokaido" depicting a young couple turning to watch a procession, with the Kakegawa mountain in the background, on laid paper. Signed in verso on baking "Toyokuni, 1825", in reference to the artist, though original print was published in 1863. 6th item: After Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) print depicting a military scene with monumental mountains in the background, on washi paper , signed "Hokuun" in pencil in backing under mat, print originally published c. 1840. All housed in wood frames with carved bamboo decorations with mats under glass. Sights ranging from: 12 1/2" H x 8 3/4" W to 14 1/2" H x 9 3/4" W. Frames ranging from 17 3/4" H x 13 3/4" W to 19 1/2" H x 14 1/2" W.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with some discoloration along border of work. Some mold and foxing on mat under glass. 2nd item: Overall good condition. 3rd item: Overall good condition with two creases across subject's face, approximately 6 1/2". 4th item: Overall good condition with some foxing in upper and lower margins. 5th item: Overall good condition with scattered foxing, significant in upper margin. 6th item: Some small holes in moyshi paper in lower right, lower left, and upper left corner paper is adhered to backing. All frames have wear and minor losses.
