Elaborate Victorian Silverplated Centerpiece or Epergne, attributed to Elkington. Stand with cast and pierced clusters of grapes and vines, winding down two entwined branches, to a tripod base with scrolled feet. The base is engraved with the Simpson family crest of a falcon and banner reading "Alis Nutrior" ("I am fed by my wings"). Cased pink and white glass basket with enameled daffodils and gilt highlights. Unmarked. Overall height: 22" x 12" diameter. Probably English, circa 1865. Condition: Glass basket has some scattered fleabites to interior and to exterior of one ruffle, light wear to gilt enameling. Silver stand is in excellent condition.
