Lacquered papier mache tray on later ebonized custom stand. Oval tray has gilt stenciled border and inlaid mother of pearl ornaments; the center features a painted scene of Pekinese dog. 20"H x 29-1/2"W x 24"D. English, late 19th century. Condition: 3 areas of chipping (about 3/4" each) on underside of tray. Some scattered small abrasions and 3 areas of chipping to top surface (largest 1/4"). Few areas of possible repaint to stenciled rim. Dog image is unaffected and in very good condition.
