Group of forty (40) Asian coins of varying denominations, shapes, and materials, including thirty-four (34) round Chinese "Cash" coins, thirty (30) having square holes and four (4) having round holes, all with various Chinese characters to perimeters, all likely 19th century; five (5) round Chinese "cash" coins, having English and Chinese characters to perimeters surrounding various images, including four (4) depicting dragons and one (1) depicting King Edward VII, all early 20th century; and one (1) oval Japanese 100 Mon Tempo Tshuho coin, having Japanese characters to the top and bottom of square hole, circa 1835-70. Ranging in size from 5/8" to 1 7/8" dia.
PROVENANCE: The collection of a Tennessee institution.
CONDITION: All items in circulated condition with varying degrees of oxidation, hairlines, to be expected from age and manner of use.
