1st item: Japanese gilt-decorated red and black lacquer miniature shrine or altar table comprised of an overhanging top with curved sides, relief carved bat decoration on the sides and drawer, and flared legs. 13" H x 19" W x 11 1/2" D. 2nd item: Japanese red and black lacquer serving tray depicting a bird on a flowering branch and volcano in the background with gilt highlights throughout. Stamped en verso by the maker "S. Yoshikawa, Yokohama, Japan". 12" H x 18" W. Both items 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of a Tennessee institution.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with light wear/craquelure to top, minor oxidation to metal. Table is collapsible. 2nd item: Scattered minor chipping to the perimeter.
