East Tennessee walnut chest of drawers with inlaid escutcheons and ogee bracket feet, Knox Co. history. Two over three graduated dovetailed drawer configuration with scratch beaded edges, original brass pulls. Ogee bracket feet with spur returns, nailed backboards. Secondary woods are yellow pine for the drawers and poplar for backboards. Original locks retained. 43 1/8" H x 39" W x 21" D. Circa 1820. Condition: The majority of repairs appears to have been done in 1975 by Roy E. Payne, Nolensville, TN (black marker note on underside of drawer). The repairs include the restoration of the majority of the front left foot facing (appears to only retain the original return and upper fourth of the bracket foot. Most of the blocks appear to be replacements, back left foot has lower half of backside facing replaced, remaining ogee facings appear original.
