Lot 305: Antique Turkmen Yomud or Yomut Main Carpet

Antique Turkmen Yomud or Yomut main carpet, wool on wool, central Yomud Dyrnak Guls design on a brick red field within three borders. Woven in brick red, blue, and cream borders. 10ft 3in x 6ft 2in. Circa 1870's.

PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.

CONDITION: Overall pile wear, one quadrant with pile wear down to the foundation and approximate 1-inch loss. Approximate 2 x 4-inch rectangular repair near the center. Minor wear and losses to fringed ends and margins.
