A pair of two (2) English sterling silver wine goblets, replicas of the vermeil original known as the Grace Cup, made in 1683 for Johannes Copleston. (Copleston was provost of King’s College, Cambridge and Vice Chancellor of the University). These 20th-century copies are hallmarked for Wakely and Wheeler, London, 1972, additionally marked on the bottom: “A Limited Edition Treasure of Goldsmiths Hall,” and numbered 40/1000 and 51/1000. 7 1/2 in. H. 14.69 oz troy. Note: Another edition of these replica cups was made in 1981 for Harrod’s of London, as souvenirs of the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana, however, those examples were silverplated.
