Southern tiger maple sugar chest, in the old surface with tapered legs, yellow pine secondary wood. Dovetailed locking case and hinged top with mitered members and exposed tendons on sides, interior with divider. Upper dovetailed case rests on a stand with an ogee molding over a single dovetailed drawer with period replaced bale pulls. 35"H x 28 1/4"W x 19 1/2"D. Circa 1820. Provenance – Lexington, Kentucky area collection. Condition: Old replaced strip of wood on back of top, Appears to retain the original hinges and locks.
