American stepback cupboard of one piece with an open top. Mixed woods, possibly white and yellow pine. Top board a flat molding terminating in an ogee profile over a frieze with the lower section in a deep scallop pattern. The open section with two equally spaced shelves. The lower section has two cabinet doors and a single shelf interior. Base with an ogee molding transitioning to black painted bracket feet with returns and a center semicircular drop. 40 7/8 in. W x 16 3/4 in. D x 78 1/4 in. H. Circa 1840.
PROVENANCE: Living Estate of Paula Brown.
CONDITION: Older refinish with minor abrasions, scuffs, and bruises. Old bracket feet appear to have originated with the cupboard. Back right foot with some separation from the case and glued break to lower half of bracket foot.
