Federal mahogany Pembroke table, labeled Charles Christian of New York, with rectangular top with hinged double-elliptical leaves, above an apron fitted with a single drawer with brass lion's head pull, the reverse with sham drawer, flanked by fluted tablets, on reeded tapering legs with baluster and ring turned capitals and feet, set into socket casters. Label inside drawer for Charles Christian of New York City: "Charles Christian's South and West India Cabinet Furniture Warehouse, No. 90 Fulton Street Near Pearl Street New York". 29"h x 22" w (closed) or 43 3/4" w (open) x 36"d. American, 1810-1815. Provenance-John Walton, NYC; lot #408 Christie's Important American Furniture, the Ronald S. Kane Collection, 1/22/94. Condition: Very good condition with expected minor wear and shrinkage, abrasions to top. French polished.
